For the next few blog posts we’re going to be looking at the best thing in the world: chocolate. (Okay, fine, one of the two best things in the world. Three, if you count MojaMix.) One of my very favorite of the chocolate offerings on the MojaMix menu is cacao nibs–and for good reason.
Cacao nibs are actually pieces of peeled, raw, cacao beans. Processing these beans turns them into the heavenly confection we know as chocolate, and there’s nothing bad about that—but the nibs have a delightful earthy, rich, chocolate taste all their own that’s too good not to try. I think of it as being perfectly balanced between chocolate and nut. They add a bit of velvety snap to a bowl of MojaMix that contrasts beautifully with the whole grains.
And as if that wasn’t enough, cacao nibs have a fairly ridiculous amount of nutrition. They contain more magnesium per serving than any other known food—which may be the reason some women crave chocolate during their menstrual period. Magnesium helps to build strong bones and balance brain chemistry. Nibs also contain more antioxidant flavonoids than blueberries, red wine, or green tea. So go ahead—order a double helping. Your body will thank you from your tongue to your toes!

I’m also one who cannot live without chocolate! I have been nervous about trying raw cacao nibs as I was not sure what to expect, but now I will definetly be adding it to my next MojaMix! Thanks for the insight!
